Scientific Programme

The scientific programme of the EFPSA Scientific Conference 2025 offers a diverse range of formats to engage with knowledge, develop practical skills, and foster collaboration. Participants will have the opportunity to learn, reflect, discuss, and co-create – in a space that values both scientific excellence and meaningful interaction.

Programme formats include:

Lectures

Keynote and thematic lectures delivered by leading experts in the field of psychology. These presentations aim to inspire, inform, and challenge the audience by addressing the most pressing psychological issues of our time. Lectures will cover a wide range of topics related to applied psychology, global mental health, behavioural science, and beyond.

Workshops

A workshop provides an opportunity for a group of participants to address a specific problem, acquire practical skills, or be trained in a particular methodology used in research or clinical practice – under the guidance of an experienced facilitator. Workshops are interactive, skill-based, and limited in participant number to ensure engagement.

Roundtable Discussions

A roundtable discussion brings together selected experts to present their viewpoints on a given topic within a shared thematic area. Moderated by a facilitator, the session includes short contributions from each speaker followed by guided and open discussion. The goal is to explore complexity through multiple lenses and generate thought-provoking debate. The conference aims to redefine the roundtable format to make it even more engaging and actionable for participants.

Student Scientific Session

This segment offers a platform for emerging researchers to present their psychological work in a supportive and academically engaging environment. The session is open to those who wish to share original studies, theoretical contributions, or applied projects.

The programme includes two preliminary oral presentation sessions, during which participants will present their work to both peers and members of the Scientific Committee. Based on the quality, relevance, and clarity of the presentations, a selection of the most outstanding contributions will advance to the Plenary Session – the final round of student presentations. The best scientific contribution will be chosen by the Scientific Committee and honoured during the closing ceremony of the conference.

Poster Session

The poster session is a visual and interactive format for presenting psychological research, project outcomes, or practice-based initiatives. Presenters will have the opportunity to showcase their work to a wide audience and engage in direct discussions with fellow participants, researchers, and members of the Scientific Committee.

In addition to fostering academic exchange, this session includes a competitive element: the Scientific Committee will review the posters and select the best poster presentation, which will be formally acknowledged during the closing ceremony.

Open Tables / Focus Groups

A collaborative session designed to stimulate discussion and idea exchange around real-world psychological challenges. Participants are divided into smaller groups and discuss one of several predefined focus topics – each framed as a practical or ethical dilemma – and join a small group led by a professional moderator.

Follies

A unique and playful segment of the conference celebrating humour, creativity, and shared humanity within the psychological community. Follies may include sketches, songs, videos, improvisations, or artistic performances – all thematically linked to psychology.
They offer a chance to connect beyond academic roles and to reflect on the absurdities, joys, and paradoxes of our profession. Performances are peer-submitted and can be individual or group-based. A community vote will determine the highlight act to be presented at the closing ceremony.
