“Drop in the sea of needs”
In the aftermath of the global crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the world has not returned to its previous state — instead, we are facing a new reality that reveals urgent social, health-related, and environmental challenges. From the rise of loneliness and mental health issues, to growing cultural tensions, structural inequalities, and increasing distrust in science and professional knowledge — psychology now stands at a crossroads. This year’s EFPSA Scientific Conference aims to create a space for meaningful reflection on the role of psychology in today’s world. The conference focuses on the applied value of psychological knowledge in addressing the pressing issues of the XXI century, building a bridge between science and practice.
Through an interdisciplinary programme, we will explore topics such as: health psychology and psychotherapy, social behaviour and decision-making, the experiences of minorities and cross-cultural processes, the integration of body and mind perspectives, and the real-world implications of research on human behaviour.
While our conference may be just a drop in the sea of needs, we believe that initiatives like this can lay strong foundations for a psychology that not only seeks to understand the world — but actively contributes to shaping a more sustainable, inclusive, and human future.
